Pedro Pinheiro-Chagas, PhD
Dr. Pinheiro-Chagas is a Neuroscience Professor at UCSF. He studies the neural architecture and dynamics of human intelligence, with a focus on cognitive symbolic systems, such as mathematics and language. By combining machine learning, computational modelling, electrophysiological recordings (intracranial EEG, MEG), neuroimaging (fMRI), continuous behavioral measures (trajectory-tracking) and neuropsychology, he studies the processing stages and representational codes underlying cognitive operations. Complementarily, he uses intracranial electrical stimulation to modulate brain activity and behavior. Previously, he did a postdoc at Stanford University, working with Josef Parvizi at the Human Intracranial Cognitive Electrophysiology Program, and a PhD with Stanislas Dehaene at CEA-NeuroSpin in Paris.
